To celebrate World Book Day 2017 we took part in a number of events throughout the week. There was a visit from the author, Meg Cowley who held an illustration workshop for Classes 3 and 4. Pupils in Classes 1 and 2 visited Northowram Library where they learned about the wonderful books on offer in the library. Each Class then built a special ‘Book Door’ to share their love of books. As usual we did lots of reading throughout the week with Class 4 holding some extra ‘buddy reading’ sessions with younger pupils.
A massive thank you to all the families who were able to come and help clearing the garden on Saturday. The weather was fantastic and Mrs Wood’s breakfasts were greatly appreciated.
The clearance means that we’ll now be able to push on with our plans to build a tiered allotment as part of our Food for Life project which is being run by Mrs Thompson and Mrs Wood.
We are hoping to run a second working party before half-term to construct not only our allotments, but also to complete the reinstatement of paths and build a small amphitheater. Funding for the later of these has been kindly donated by the Northowram Educational Trust.
